The Bucket.com, LLC (“The Bucket,” “we,” “us”) is a publisher of digital content and is funded by advertising. We value your privacy rights and are committed to being transparent when it comes to our collection and use of personal information.
This Policy also describes our practices for using and sharing information about you, as well as choices you have regarding your information.
If you have questions or concerns about this Policy or our collection and use of your information, please contact us at the email address listed below, and we will be happy to address them.
Applicability of This Policy
This Policy is part of our Terms of Service, which govern your use of the Site. We may update our Terms of Service and/or this Policy from time to time. Whenever we do so, we will include the applicable effective date at the top of the page. Whenever you use the Site or provide us with information, you are indicating that you agree to the most recent version of our Terms of Service, including this Policy, and you are consenting to our collection and use of that information as described in this Policy, so please check our Terms of Service and this Policy regularly for updates.
This Policy applies to Personal Information we collect through the Site. “Personal Information” is information that can be used to identify you (such as your name, email address or other contact information) and other information that is linked to your personal identifiers (such as payment information, usernames, and passwords). This Policy does not apply to information that is not Personal Information. For example, if we create aggregated anonymous data that cannot be used by someone else to identify you, that data is not covered by this Policy. This Policy also does not apply to other websites or to the practices of any third parties, including third parties offering products or services that may be advertised or linked on the Site.
Information We Collect
We collect several types of information, including Personal Information, from and about users of the Site. We collect this information directly from you when you chose to provide it to us, and automatically when you navigate through the Site. We may also collect information about you from other sources. In the following sections we explain how and why we collect various types of information about our users.
Information You Provide
We collect information, including Personal Information, when you choose to provide it to us on the Site. For example, if you decide to become a Registered User of the Site, you will be asked to select a user name and password and verify your email address. We use this information to create and maintain your user account and communicate with you about your account. You may also choose to provide other information, including:
- Personal details, such as your name and other contact information;
- Biographical information, such as your age, gender, and interests;
- Payment information; and
- Content that you create or submit (“User Content”), such as postings in a forum or message board, survey responses, communications with other users through the Site, and comments on an area of the Site that enables comments.
We use this information to deliver the features of the Site that you request, such as to review and respond to your inquiries, provide customer support, post your User Content, and process your purchases. We also use this information to evaluate and improve the Site (including our marketing of the Site and our delivery of advertisements on the Site), customize your user experience, personalize our communications to you, and for other reasons that you request or that we make known to you at the time you choose to provide the information.
Information We Collect Automatically
As you use the Site, we may collect information from or about you automatically using standard technologies, such as browser cookies, Web beacons, and third-party analytics services.
A browser cookie is a small file that is stored on your device when you visit a website. It allows the website to recognize your browser or recall your settings as you navigate around the website or visit the website again in the future. “Persistent” cookies stay on your device until you delete them and are useful for, among other reasons, to avoid having to login or re-enter your preferences next time you visit the website. “Session” cookies are deleted automatically when you close your browser or turn off your device and are useful for capturing analytical data and helping you navigate around the website. You can block cookies or delete them by following the instructions for our browser, but not all of the features of the Site may work as intended if you block our cookies.
A Web beacon (or a pixel “GIF”) is an invisible digital object on a webpage or email. Web beacons are used to collect information about interactions with the webpage or email, such the number and duration of visits to a webpage.
Analytics services are provided by third parties to measure various uses of a webpage, including general geographic location, browsing actions, and similar information for compiling and analyzing statistical data. These third parties may also use automatic technologies like browser cookies and Web beacons.
The information we and our third-party service providers may automatically collect includes:
- IP address and general location (such as region or city);
- Device, operating system and browser types and versions;
- Date, time and duration of visits to the Site and particular areas of the Site;
- Frequency and number of visits to the Site from a particular IP address;
- Browser actions on the Site, including clicks on links;
- Referring website;
- File downloads from the Site; and
- Viewing and listening time of audio and video content on the Site.
We use automatically-collected information to make the Site available to you (such as by recognizing you when you visit the Site and recalling your settings and preferences) and to evaluate and improve the Site, customize your user experience, and perform market research. We may use this information to present selected content and advertisements to you, or to invite you to participate in discussion forums, surveys, contests, promotions or other interactive features of the Site that we believe may be of interest to you based on your interests and activities on the Site.
Information We Gather From Third Parties
We may collect Personal Information about you from other sources. These sources may be service providers working on our behalf, such as to help us operate, maintain, and improve the Site or specific features of the Site. Our sharing of any Personal Information with service providers and other partners is discussed separately below. Other sources of Personal Information may include data aggregators, publicly available sources, and operators of other websites or online services (such as social media services) that may allow you to link to your account or profile on the Site. We generally use information gathered from third parties to identify potential users of the Site so that we can invite them to visit the Site. If we offer a referral feature on the Site, a user may provide us with another individual’s contact information, which we will use only to inform the individual of the referral and invite the individual to visit the Site.
Information We Share
We will share your Personal Information with non-affiliated third parties only as described in this Policy, unless we obtain your specific consent otherwise.
We may share your Personal Information with service providers with whom we have contracted to provide products or services that help us operate, maintain, and improve the Site. These may include payment processors, email or other communications service providers, and providers of platforms for customer support, surveys, content delivery, database management, hosting, cyber security, and interactive features of the Site. Service providers must treat your Personal Information as confidential and use it only to provide the services for which we have engaged them. Companies that help us with analytics and advertising are discussed separately below.
We may also share information you have chosen to provide, for the purpose for which you provided it. For example, if you submit User Content, such as a comment in a discussion group or a post on a bulletin board, your User Content will be visible to other users of the Site. Similarly, if you enter a contest, respond to a survey, or purchase a third-party product or service through the Site, the information you provide, which may include Personal Information, will be shared accordingly.
Some third parties may collect your Personal Information directly in the course of your interactions with them. When that is the case, your Personal Information will be subject to the privacy policies and other applicable terms of those third parties. But if they share your Personal Information with us, we will treat it in accordance with this Policy.
We may use your Personal Information to help protect against fraudulent or unauthorized activities, improve security, comply with applicable law or legal obligations, cooperate with law enforcement or other governmental authorities, investigate complaints, defend against legal claims, protect the rights and safety of our organization and our employees and users, or enforce this Policy and our Terms of Service.
If we are acquired by or merge with another company or go through a similar major corporate event involving a detailed review of our business and operations by third parties, we may disclose your Personal Information as part of such a review. Any such review will be subject to a confidentiality agreement that will restrict the use of your Personal Information.
Third-Party Analytics and Advertising Services
We may use website analytics tools and services, such as Google Analytics and Hubspot, to help us analyze the Site and how it is used. You can read more about how Google Analytics handles Personal Information here, and you learn how to opt out of Google Analytics here. You can opt out of Hubspot by sending us a request at the address listed below; please allow us a reasonable time to comply with your request.
We may also use third-party tools and services to help us deliver advertising tailored to our users’ interests. We share data about activities on the Site with advertising networks administered by third parties, who may use some of the same technologies described above to track your online activities. Targeted advertising may take place both at the Site and on unaffiliated websites that participate in the same advertising networks. We may use Facebook, DoubleClick for Publishers, and Google AdSense for these purposes.
Managing Targeted Advertising
You can take steps to limit or block advertising that is targeted at you based on your interests and online activities. You can learn how to control or block advertisements enabled by Google AdSense here. You can control how Facebook selects advertisements by adjusting settings in the “Ads” section of your Facebook account “Settings” page. DoubleClick for Publishers is part of Google Ad Manager. If you have a Google account, you can learn how to control targeted advertising enabled by Google Ad Manager here. In addition, both Facebook and Google participate in the “AdChoices” program of the Digital Advertising Alliance. You can learn more about advertising networks and how to opt out of targeted advertising here.
Please note that opt-out mechanisms described above generally rely on cookies to retain your opt-out preferences. So if you reject or erase all cookies, your opt-out choices may not function properly.
We have implemented commercially reasonable and appropriate measures to secure your Personal Information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Any payment transactions initiated on the Site are provided through out payment processing services provider; we do not possess or retain any payment information. The safety and security of your Personal Information also depends on you. For example, if you are a Registered User, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential. Unfortunately, the transmission of information online is not completely secure, and despite the security measures we have implemented, we cannot guarantee the security of your Personal Information transmitted to or through the Site.
Your Choices and Rights
You may update, correct, or delete information about you at any time by using the tools and settings available to you through the Site or by contacting us at the address listed below. You may elect not to receive promotional communications from us by following the opt-out or unsubscribe instructions included in any such communication or by sending your request to us. If you are a Registered User, however, we may continue to communicate with you about your account, as needed. You may also request that we no longer share your Personal Information with third parties for marketing and advertising purposes. Please note, however, that our request will not apply to information we may have shared with such third parties prior to receiving your request, and that if you have provided Personal Information directly to a third party whose products or services are featured or linked in the Site, that third party may continue to use your Personal Information; you may wish to contact that third party directly to make your request.
We do not track our users over time and across third-party websites, and therefore we do not recognize or respond to browser-initiated “Do Not Track” signals. As noted above, we participate in online advertising networks administered by third parties, which may track your online activities over time and across third-party websites. You may opt-out of interest-based and other targeted advertising as indicated above in the Managing Targeted Advertising section
You may have additional rights under applicable law. For example, you may have the right to obtain a copy of your Personal Information or to request deletion of certain Personal Information. We will make reasonable efforts to comply with such requests where applicable, but we may refuse such requests where we are otherwise legally required to retain the information, or where the requests are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, create privacy risks for others, or are impractical.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to request and obtain from us once per year, free of charge, a list of third parties to whom we have disclosed your Personal Information (if any) for their direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year, as well of the types of Personal Information disclosed to those parties. If you wish to exercise this right, please contact us.
